We spend a lot of time viewing life from somewhere different from where life is happening.
That's viewing, not experiencing.
Whether we're watching the local Fourth of July celebration on television, reading about poverty from the comfort of our living rooms, or driving alone in our cars a short distance – and then complaining about having to find parking – we're becoming more and more disconnected from actual life.
So much is becoming theoretical to us.
I've decided to start seeing life at ground level – where it actually happens – and I'm going to do my best to pass along some of what I learn on these pages.
Some of what you read here might not be able to swallow. You might disagree with some of it. Or a lot of it.
Let's start a dialogue. Much of that can be done on the blog, where you can leave comments. I have elected to allow you to post comments anonymously, and I think my reasons for doing so are good. But I'll be a little tougher in my moderation of anonymous comments, so if you're going to say something you think might generate discussion or controversy, please consider putting your name on it.
I hope you learn something here. I also hope you can teach me something here.
B'shalom (in peace),
Josh
